Just arrived in the United States, imported by us from Europe.

After its restoration in Argentina more than 20 years ago, this Auto Italia (Lic. Cisitalia) Barchetta is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a mouth-dropping sports racer straight from the early-1950s Argentine racing scene. Later sold in 2012 to noted pre-war Alfa Romeo specialist Alfred Bauer, chassis #003 is believed to be one of only a handful produced and quite possibly the only surviving example known today.

The car retains its original Crosley CoBra (Copper Brazed) inline four-cylinder engine, number C464946, displacing 724 cc. This advanced overhead-camshaft unit, constructed from copper-brazed sheet steel, was highly prized for its lively performance and remarkably low weight. The engine is fitted with a period “Braje” aluminum valve cover, a desirable speed component reflecting the tuning culture of the era.

The car proudly participated in the 2012 Gran Premio Nuvolari and has just undergone an extensive checkup in preparation for its new life in America, including a major service and a new clutch.

Accompanying the car is a comprehensive expertise report prepared by Dipl.-Ing. Klaus Kukuk, publicly appointed and sworn expert for historic vehicles in Germany. The report confirms the car’s matching original engine, period-correct mechanical components, and faithful restoration, assigning an overall condition grade between 2 and 3, with the frame and paintwork rated 2- (good). As of August 13, 2015, the car was appraised at €285,000.

A true collector’s opportunity: a beautifully restored and extensively documented postwar barchetta of exceptional rarity, and quite possibly the sole surviving representative of a fascinating chapter in Argentine motorsport history.

The video below was recorded during the car’s appearance at the InterClassics Brussels show in November 2025, where it was presented among some of Europe’s finest collector automobiles.
