Gem Classic Cars is pleased to offer this exceptionally honest and remarkably well-preserved 1937 Packard Six Touring Sedan.
Finished in an attractive deep Packard Blue complemented by wide whitewall tires, this elegant prewar Packard presents exactly as a well-cared-for original automobile should. Rather than being the subject of a complete restoration, the car retains much of its authentic character, preserving the look and feel that make surviving prewar automobiles so appealing today.
According to the serial plate, this Packard was delivered new by Standard Auto Company of Lebanon, Pennsylvania in September 1937. Even more remarkably, the car is accompanied by a copy of its original Pennsylvania title showing ownership in Lebanon, PA, providing a rare and desirable link to its early history. Original documentation of this nature is seldom found with prewar automobiles and provides valuable insight into the car’s provenance.
The car remained with its most recent owner from 1980 until 2026, representing approximately 46 years of continuous ownership. Such long-term stewardship is increasingly uncommon and speaks volumes about the care and preservation this Packard has enjoyed throughout its life.
The vehicle identification plate confirms the car as a 1937 Packard Six (115-C), powered by Packard’s dependable flathead six-cylinder engine paired with a manual transmission. Introduced for 1937, the Packard Six allowed buyers to enjoy the prestige, quality and craftsmanship of America’s premier luxury marque in a more economical package, while retaining the smooth road manners and engineering excellence for which Packard had become famous.
The engine compartment retains a wonderfully original appearance, while the underside reveals a solid and honest structure consistent with a vehicle that has been carefully maintained and preserved rather than extensively rebuilt. Original identification plates remain in place, including the dealer delivery plate and factory firewall body stamping.
A delightful period-correct wooden shift knob engraved ‘R-A-R’ (Reverse-Advance-Road) remains fitted, adding to the car’s authentic prewar character.
The combination of attractive Packard Blue paintwork, highly original presentation and nearly half a century of single ownership make this a particularly appealing example. It is a charming and authentic prewar Packard that offers a rare opportunity to acquire a largely unmodified automobile with known history, original character, and exceptional provenance.
