A beautifully presented 1953 Buick Special Convertible, combining the elegance of early 1950s American styling with Buick’s legendary smoothness and comfort.

Finished in an attractive pale yellow with a contrasting red and cream interior and black convertible top, this Buick benefits from a very nice older restoration that has aged particularly well.

Under the hood is Buick’s famous 263-cubic-inch (4.3-liter) Fireball straight-eight engine, producing approximately 120 horsepower and paired with a three-speed column-shift manual transmission, commonly known as “three on the tree.”

The engine runs exceptionally smoothly, and the car is an absolute pleasure to drive, offering the relaxed and comfortable cruising experience for which Buick was renowned.

The exterior paint retains a beautiful shine, complemented by attractive chrome trim and the distinctive Buick grille. The restoration shows only a few minor signs of age, including some small paint cracks on the left rear fender and a localized spot of corrosion inside the right front inner fender.

The charming two-tone interior presents very nicely, with its red and cream upholstery, matching carpeting, original-style dashboard, and beautiful period instrumentation.

The electrically operated black convertible top is fully functional, although its operation is somewhat slow.

The engine compartment retains a largely period-correct appearance, featuring the distinctive green Fireball straight-eight and original-style components.

Overall, this is a particularly attractive example of Buick’s elegant early-1950s convertible, combining a nicely preserved older restoration, beautiful color combination, and exceptionally smooth driving characteristics.

A wonderful classic American convertible, ready to be enjoyed on the open road.
